Device binge...DONE!
Today I shelled out for a cheap Acer Laptop, leaving my work laptop free for...well...work. Also broke down for the Wii + Super Mario Galaxy. Figure if I'm going to have company over here more often, might as well have an electronic experience that doesn't involve me renting or buying movies from Playstation Network.
This past month, I purchased a budget Lexmark Pro705 wireless printer (which I still haven't taken time to set up with my Ubuntu boxes) and an RV-X365BL Yamaha. Was tempted to go for a higher model Harmony remote, but the Wii purchase is likely my last lifestyle device purchase for a while (at least until the iPad finally gets to me).

D-Day: Improving my e-Life
Flashy shit first. My new Sharp 42" LCD HDTV came in today. So did the Madrid stand, but I still have to set it up. Tonight's project, put together the stand, attach the sound bar, and crack a beer. Already have the Xbox 360 hooked up. The PS3 will have to wait until my cables arrive. BTW, it'll be a cold day in hell before I abandon Monoprice as my first stop for my wiring needs. Also, brought a Greenpower 1500VA UPS for cheap; should be good enough for two PCs a Mac, and coax piercing my outside wall. Finally, got my hands on a new Netgear GS108T 8-port GiB managed switch. Landlord is already half a year into a green housing renovation project on my unit, and last night we tossed around some good ideas for wiring the entire house for Ethernet. Monoprice places the at least the wiring within price range of the most absent hobbyist.
This morning I finished syncing my collective media and Documents to encrypted buckets Amazon S3 and played briefly with Cloudfront. I should think more deeply about streaming music and Video through Amazon Web Services later this week, but I expect to be heavily distracted by work, snaking Cat 6 cables between my room and the rack, and an Ubuntu media center project.
